Cult beauty brand Cosmetics à La Carte celebrated their 40th anniversary last week with a five day exhibition titled ‘Colour and Culture’.
The exhibition, curated by Ryan Lanji, explores the brands history of cosmetic innovation, creativity and cultural significance.
To coincide with the exhibition, which ended yesterday, we invited some guests into the studio to express their creativity using their favourite Cosmetics à La Carte items.

We captured each guest on camera, giving insight into how they create their bold signature looks.
In this instalment Miss Sahhara demonstrates how to achieve the perfect glamorous eye for a night out.

Genderfuck performances will be taking over the ICA this June when Icy Gays returns for a night of disco and trampolining trannies.

The event on Friday 7 June will feature cabaret duo with a penchant for the darkside Bourgeois & Maurice.
The award winning cabaret stars merge bitingly witty original songs with stunning films and astonishing outfits.
They have performed at some of the UK’s most prestigious venues including the Royal Opera House, Southbank Centre, Wales Millennium Centre, Soho Theatre and a critically acclaimed run at Sadler’s Wells

Transgendered performance artist Miss Rose Wood will also be appearing.
She forged her “trans-aggressive” approach – wicked, yet joyously humane – in New York City, where she has been featured at The Box nightclub since 2006.
She will be joined by bigger than life operatic diva Le Gateau Chocolat who delivers outrageous yet moving renditions of everything from pop-rock to opera.
The night will also include an interactive film from alternative drag superstar Jonny Woo.
There will be additional turns from Lucy FIzz, the queen of sploshing and Jeannie Dee, the tranny pensioner.
Werk! will be providing a live art installation while east end favourite Dirtbox will play DJ sets.
The event will be hosted by Sharon Husbands.

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova will kick off this year’s Pride in London celebrations as it’s confirmed the event will go ahead.
Despite funding challenges Pride’s organisers have confirmed that all necessary plans are now in place for a week-long Pride festival.
Navratilova will take part in a special audience hosted by lesbian TV presenter Clare Balding at the St James’ Theatre on Sunday 23 June.
Commenting on her involvement Martina Navratilova said: “London holds a very special place in my heart. But it’s not just Wimbledon I love, it is the city itself, which is so welcoming and energetic. I am proud to be part of the first Pride in London to be organised by London LGBT+ Community Pride. I want everyone to come out and support the events and remember that Pride is about campaigning as well as celebrating. The campaign for Equal Marriage in the UK and in the US is an important one and we should show solidarity and work together for greater acceptance and equality for all.”
Chairman of London LGBT+ Community Pride Michael Salter added: “I am honoured to be part of an amazing team that in record time has put together Pride in London. Over the last four months a huge amount of hard work has gone in to recruit over 1,200 volunteers, raise sponsorship money and plan the event. I want to thank everyone involved, our suppliers, contractors, sponsors and supporters for all they have done and continue to do.”
The Board of London LGBT+ Community Pride set three criteria for a ‘Go/No-Go’.
These targets had to be met by the end of April in order for Pride to be able to go ahead in London in 2013.
They included raising 70 per cent of base-funding and enlisting at least 800 volunteers to man events on 29 June which include the annual Pride parade.
The festival programme includes many events but a highlight will be the Summer Rites Pride in the Park music festival in Shoreditch Park.
The next public forum will be held at City Hall on 6 June.
