Organic Contours And Structured Patterns For Domingo Rodriguez
Liverpool born designer Domingo Rodriguez presented his SS14 menswear collection as part of LC: M.
Rodriguez drew on inspiration from the muscles and lines of the male body; taking organic contours and turning them into structured patterns. Relaxed silhouettes and sporty, accessible shapes in luxe fabrics including leather and silk form the base of the collection. Seam-free vests, and pre-layered jersey tops were produced in cool neutral tones.
Simplicity with an eye for tailoring-detail is fast becoming a signature of the designer, describing his ideal client as “someone who enjoys personal indulgence, progressive cutting and forward thinking details.”
A fashion short featuring Rodriguez’s collection, directed by Benjamin Lussier, explores the underlying themes of its conception. The contract between the organic inspiration and the hard-edged treatment is in some ways reminiscent of the conflicting artistic movements of romanticism vs. classicism. “I’ll Be There” presents four short narratives where carelessness and natural; urges clash with ambition and purpose.
