Visionaries of Style is a new style consultancy which provides styling services for women and men looking for that luxury edge. Co-founder Nazi Ahmed gives us the low down on her new venture, while offering some top style tips.

What is your background and how did you meet your business partner, Kristine Kilty?
I’ve worked in the PR industry for over 10 years, including fashion, music, film and events PR. Whilst I was in music PR I took a part-time job at Vivienne Westwood Gold Label where I consulted clients on bridal and couture wear. It’s while I was at Westwood that I first met Kristine (about 4 years ago). I remember her having such great energy; we hit it off right away.

What inspired you to start Visionaries of Style?
I was looking for a new challenge and wanted to move away from PR. Kristine and I had often spoken about starting a personal styling/shopping service as we would often get approached by people asking for style advice. It seemed like a natural  thing for me and Kristine to do together.

There are a number of style consultancies out there. How will yours differ?
Visionaries of Style offer clients the opportunity to be introduced to new designers as Kristine has great relationships with a lot of new designers and their PR teams.  We want our clients to explore new designs and possibly get their hands on exclusive pieces that might not be available in the shops. In a world of mass manufacturing, it’s great to have something that only you have!

We also offer clients a service where they can create their own bespoke capsule collection of clothes with a tailor. We know that it can be hard to find certain wardrobe staples such as the perfect jacket or trousers that fit well, so we thought it would be great to have a bespoke clothing service that would allow clients to fill in these gaps in their wardrobes.

What services will you offer clients and how will you work with different people, with varying needs?
We offer services to both men and women; they include Wardrobe Rejuvenation, Personal Shopping, Style & Speed (for time poor individuals), as well as Special Occasion, Red Carpet and Wedding (for both grooms and brides) and a concierge service.

Having worked in various PR sectors and with celebrities, both Kristine and I are used to working with all sorts of people from various backgrounds. Before we take on a client, we ask him/her to fill out a questionnaire which provides us with insight into their style needs. We want our clients to experience hassle free, relaxing and efficient services.

What does style mean to you?
For me style allows me to represent who I am. I like to have fun with it and it makes me feel great. It should be inspirational and leave an impression.

Who would you single out as having great style at the moment and why?
Tilda Swinton. She always looks so effortless and other worldly. She is a true style chameleon. Whether she’s wearing haute couture or casual wear, she always commands attention.

What are your top five tips for winning style?

1. If you find a piece of clothing that works for you, buy it in multiples.

2. Accessories are always great in transforming an outfit. Cool shoes and interesting jewellery can always elevate a look and make you feel relaxed about the rest of your outfit.

3. Invest in quality fabrics. Cheap fabrics tend to be less flattering, while higher-quality fabrics look better, last longer and hold their shape.

4. Embrace your shape and be confident with it. If you can do this, you will feel amazing in whatever you wear.

5. Have a good tailor on speed dial. Build a relationship with a tailor or dressmaker who knows your body and your taste and you’ll never look back.
