Katie Eary, The Godmother Of Colourful Prints
Katie Eary has quickly established herself as the godmother of colourful prints in menswear during the last couple of seasons and has gained a huge fan-base in London’s fashion industry. With her SS14 collection she managed to successfully defend her position and will provide that much-needed bit of colour in our summer wardrobes.
Eary stuck to a very consistent colour palette of various shades of red, pink and orange, only infused with the odd bit of black and white. Images of flamingos in wigs (yes, this is Katie Eary for you), larger-than-life leopard prints and what looked like stylised sunsets were adorning an array of t-shirts, shorts, shirts, trousers, jackets and coats. The garments’ construction was rather simple and classic as Eary focused on prints in this collection.
Decidedly anti-mainstream, Katie Eary’s collection for SS14 offers a lot to choose from for quirky colour-enthusiasts who prefer to turn it up during the summer. Those who go for a rather simple look will have to be happy with a white t-shirt featuring a flamingo’s head, but for those who were disappointed by this season’s overwhelming majority of grey and simplicity, Eary has once again earned the status of a saint.
