Nicky Haslam

Legendary interior designer Nicky Haslam has put together an iconic cast and track list for a unique recording, Midnight Matinee.

The CD will be released on 1 July following on from Haslam’s cabaret performances at the Savoy Hotel and Annabel’s Nightclub in London.

The famed designer has recruited a long list of big names that include Andy Warhol and created unlikely duets and collaborations.

The eclectic soundtrack fuses both songs and spoken word, taking its inspiration from where contemporary art meets the past.

Haslam has worked with producer David Oglivy and will be using words by writers ranging from James Joyce to W.B. Yeats.

He will be singing with Bryan Ferry, Cilla Black, Helena Bonham Carter and Sebastian Leon.

Among the songwriters featured are Freidrich Hollander, Rodgers and Hart, Irving Berlin and Coleman and Leigh.

The recording also includes an exclusive new composition by award-winning Guy chambers, who has worked with Kylie Minogue and Rufus Wainwright.

Commenting on the project Haslam said, “David Oglivy managed to shape my voice into a remarkable sound, aided by his brilliant arrangements.

“The most exciting part about making Midnight Matinee was the participation of the myriad music legends, past and present, who have made the album truly extraordinary.”

Midnight Matinee is releaded on 1 July through Strike Force Entertainment/Cherry Red records.
