Fashion And Live Music Raise Money For Cancer Research UK

Gala Evening

Sunday 5 May was a night for the great and good of the fashion and music industries to come together in aid of Cancer Research UK, in an extravaganza of epic proportions!

The main feature of the evening was the WS Fashion show, put together by up-and-coming stylist Walter Stojash, and for once men’s fashion was given prominence. Highlights included Nico Didonna, KGGKKT Couture (a relatively new label and force to watch out for!), together with fabulous Robert Wellington Jewellery to accessorise the men’s collections. Clever mixing and matching by Walter meant that guests were treated to a riot of colour proving that formal wear needn’t be boring or mono-chromatic. Both ranges were exceptionally finished, with details such as monogramming on breast pockets for the Blazers with tartan featuring predominantly, and contrast colour detail on lapels with the Didonna range. As MC for the evening I was privileged enough to be given a dinner suit by KGGKKT Couture, with a gold fob chain to set it off.  The Gentlemen’s collections were complimented by women’s fashion featuring fashion designer Patty, and Nico Didonna’s women’s wear range, together with Hats by Christina Eastwood, and accessories by Yogi Design.

Gala Evening

Guests arrived  at 7pm, and were treated to cocktails provided by The West Club at Pigalle in Piccadilly. Chef Damian Wawrzyniak from Fine Art of Dining, provided canapes of garden pea volute with coconut froth, potato crisps in dark chocolate with goji and bacon powder, to name but a few. Entertainment by provided by Comedy Rapper ‘PintSize’, piano and vocal duet Laima Ivule & Adam Bridges, Jazz Funk band Alexandra Legouix and the Sunflowers, and an array of celebrity DJs.

The Pigalle Club on Piccadilly Circus has recently re-opened under the control of Manager David West, and lent itself particularly well to this type of event, with a glamorous VIP area upstairs. The raised stage was the perfect platform for the runway and live music with guests easily able to see everything throughout the night.  The fashion show concluded with a charity auction conducted by well known actress and author Sally Farmiloe, where each designer and many other sponsors donated a prize to be auctioned, which itself raised over £3000 for Cancer Research UK.
