The return of Thierry Mugler
Thierry Mugler has been announced as creative director of Mugler. Having served as the artistic director of Thierry Mugler Parfums since 1992, Mugler has not been associated with the fashion side of his eponymous line since 2003.
“Over the past three years, Mugler Fashion has made a visibly successful comeback, while Mugler fragrances have enjoyed a 50 per cent growth in sales with both Angel and Alien now amongst the top feminine fragrances worldwide,” explained General Director Joel Palix. “It is time to unite both activities under one single creative management and turn Mugler into a global and fully integrated luxury brand with a synergetic approach across fashion, accessories and fragrances.”
The statement also confirmed that Formichetti’s Sebastien Peign and Romain Kremer, head designers for women’s and men’s wear respectively, have left the brand. “I wish both of them the very best for the future,” added Palix.
Although it is unclear of what exactly Mugler’s role will include, he is believed to be working alongside Director Palix. Reports suggest that will only be offering advice and will not be involved in decision making or design.
