Beige Recommends: Unhappy Birthday

Amy Lamé Unhappy Birthday by Tom Sheehan

Fresh from her sell-out run of Hamburger Queen, performer Amy Lame returns with her show ‘Unhappy Birthday’ this coming May.

Back by popular demand, ‘Unhappy Burger’ is Lame’s raucous pop meditation on Morrissey and the highs and lows of teenage fandom.

The show appears exactly 30 years after the release of The Smiths first single ‘Hand In Glove’, in May 1983.

‘Unhappy Birthday’ is an exuberant culture clash of party, performance and DJ set, where guests will be called on to get out of their seats, play pass the parcel or even take on the role of Morrissey himself.

It is, however, not just a show for Morrissey fans and will appeal to anyone who has ever loved pop music, experienced teen angst or been crushed by unrequited love.

‘Unhappy Birthday’ is at Camden People’s Theatre, 58-60 Hampstead Road, London, NW1 2PY.

14 May to 1 June, Tues – Sat at 7.30pm
