Paul Smith Collaborates With David Bowie
Designer Paul Smith has teamed up with iconic singer David Bowie to create the official t-shirt celebrating the release of Bowie’s new album ‘The Next Day’. This is the first offering from the long-term friends, with further collaborations planned for later in the year.
“David Bowie has worn a lot of Paul Smith throughout his career and I was excited and delighted when asked if I would do the official t-shirt for his album”, explained Smith.
The cotton tee’s artwork has been created by graphic designer Jonathan Barnbrook, who also produced the cover artwork for Bowie’s album Heathen. Inspired by Bowie’s Heroes album cover, the garment features photography originally shot by Masayoshi Sukita, whose work was recently exhibited in Smith’s space gallery in Tokyo.
The men’s t-shirt will be available online and from standalone Paul Smith stores from 8 March, priced £70.
