Men’s Fashion Week to Return to New York?
New York could soon see the return of a dedicated men’s fashion week. The Council of Fashion Designers of America are reported to be in on-going discussions.
Though a four-day men’s fashion week launched in 1995, it continued only four years. With the highly successful arrival of London Collections: Men in 2012, New York is at present the only fashion-capitol not to host a standalone men’s showcase. Currently, designers based in the city are forced to show their men’s offerings alongside their women’s in February and September.
“Over the years, a number of industry people have talked to the CFDA about the value of a dedicated men’s week. In recent months, some key people with a deep and sincere interest in that idea have come together as a group to explore that possibility,” confirmed CEO Steven Kolb. “We are looking at the potential of a men’s week and how that might fit into the global men’s calendar.”
The event could return as early as summer 2013, however nothing is yet confirmed.
