Belstaff Launches SS13 Campaign
A contemporary, international traveller is the muse that inspired Belstaff’s Spring/Summer collection for 2013. The idealistic vision of global travel is portrayed through a romantic aesthetic enhanced by the scenery of the Caribbean island of Barbados – the perfect backdrop for the campaign. Reminiscing about a time where travel was luxurious and extravagant, Chief Creative Officer, Martin Cooper, relives the beauty of this period within the campaign.
The accessory line is a fusion of natural tones of olive, terracotta and pale stone with complimentary yellows, browns and chambray blues to modernise the heritage feel. The high quality leather bags are available in a range of sizes and features to accommodate the inner traveller in today’s society. The soft linen fabric, which naturally slouches when fastened by the pull in leather strap of the Tyburn bag, allows excess storage room for a weekend away. Once slung over your shoulder (like the model in the advertising campaign) you are ready to ride off into the sunset on your motorcycle. The Trafford bag is maybe more suited for a city break or countryside retreat with the large size, sturdy handles and signature buckle straps. For a business venture, the Doncaster Large bag is smart, elegant and chic. With the dual zip compartments important documents can be filed along with the essentials required for an overnight stay. Belstaff’s attention to detailing ensures their bags are precise and unique
To integrate style and practicality, Belstaff have cleverly designed a paper-thin leather jacket that can easily be rolled up and stored in any one of the travel bags. In the event of a cool breeze in Spring, an oversized parka with a button out wool warmer creates a jacket with dual purposes. The overall look of the jackets serve to keep the modern man warm, prepared yet stylish. Each jacket is available with many pockets for function, a high collar for insulation and a detachable belt to keep a refined silhouette – very much the essence of a classic Belstaff design. However, the unusual combination of luxurious fabrics such as linen with suede and cotton next to waxed crocodile appeals to a new market. The Trialmaster jacket is a great example, as a matte white crocodile version is available this Spring with a new slim-line fit. Perfect for a biker who cares for chic outerwear with a multitude of features that protect from the elements.
The travel case inspired belts are adjustable for versatility and to create a defined silhouette. Manufactured from calf leather the Sparham belt is durable yet smart. Working towards comfort and function the Chadwell Flat sandal is sturdy with two buckle fastenings and a rugged rubber sole. For a fuller shoe the Rushmore brogue offers a contemporary version of the classic footwear. Keeping the secure double fastening, practical sole and hardwearing leather still appeals to the adventurous, fashion conscious male.
Belstaff have successfully launched a collection that has reinvented the classic signature pieces that still embody the original designs. Staying true to exceptional quality leather goods is essential, yet allowing room for development and imagination. The brand has evolved with the fast pace contemporary man who enjoys travelling with class and style. A gentleman who is the epitome of luxury and elegance will indulge in Belstaff’s new prospective.
