Gay icon Marilyn Monroe will come under the spotlight once more in new exhibition of photographs by glamour photographer Bruno Bernard at Proud Chelsea this month.
Bernard is best known for “discovering” Monroe who he met for the first time in 1946 as he was leaving a dental appointment.
The exhibition is based on the book Marilyn: Intimate Exposures by Susan Bernard which documents the Hollywood sex symbol’s transformation to fresh-faced Norma Jean to internationally recognised Marilyn Monroe.
The exhibition will include early pin-ups of Monroe, candid shots from Hollywood parties and rare behind the scenes photos from her most famous films.
Images will include a headshot of Norma Jean in a beret and sweater; a giggling Monroe on the set of “The Seven Year Itch”; a tearful star escaping a throng of journalists following her divorce from Joe DiMaggio.
The exhibition runs 1st August to 9th September 2012.
